Members of the LandLogic team and York University's Regulatory Compliance Intelligence (RCI) Lab have contributed the Ontario chapter of Digital Transformation of Building Permitting, a new open-access book featuring contributions from researchers and practitioners around the world. It explores how governments are modernizing permitting through digital technologies, data, and AI.

The Ontario chapter examines the digital maturity of the province's 30 largest municipalities, finding that while Ontario is among Canada's most digitized jurisdictions, approval timelines remain significantly longer than elsewhere in the country. The authors argue that digitizing permitting tools alone is not enough. Lasting improvements require connected data infrastructure, standardized information, and interoperable systems that enable governments, applicants, and regulators to work from a shared foundation.

The chapter concludes with recommendations for building a more integrated permitting ecosystem that can improve regulatory efficiency and accelerate housing delivery.
