Ontario doesn’t need 444 separate permitting systems. LandLogic’s article this month argues that despite billions in government funding, modernization programs, and approval-reform efforts, development approvals remain slow because Ontario is solving the problem municipality by municipality. The result is a fragmented landscape of separate portals, workflows, forms, datasets, and approval processes that make development harder for applicants and harder for municipal staff.

LandLogic’s position is simple: build once, build it right, use it everywhere. A centralized, AI-enabled permitting platform would reduce duplication and validate applications upfront. It would coordinate requirements across agencies, improve transparency, and create one simpler approval experience powered by shared infrastructure and standardized zoning, planning, and property data. The technology exists, partners are already on board, and now government needs to help scale the solution across Ontario.
